The Boat House

The Zandwijk family

Forty years of Dutch curiosity on a Spanish island

From a single van in Figueretes to a beachfront table at the cove — the story of a family that fell in love with Ibiza, learned its kitchens, and stayed.

A van, a dog, an idea

A van, a dog, an idea

Tom and Maria Zandwijk arrive in Figueretes with a Volkswagen Bus, a black Labrador called Otto, and the conviction that food can be both Dutch in discipline and Spanish in soul.

On the Beach

2005

On the Beach

After two decades of seasonal kitchens across the island, the family opens On the Beach in Cala San Vicente — the first table where the menu was as small as the cove itself.

The Boat House

A renovated boathouse on the same beach, larger crew, the same idea: share food with people you love while the sea decides the time of day.

The cove farm

2025

The cove farm

Our zero-km farm opens behind the dunes — tomatoes, herbs, leaves and edible flowers walk to the kitchen the same morning.

Lieke Zandwijk

Chef de cuisine

Lieke Zandwijk

Trained in Amsterdam, Madrid and Bangkok, Lieke runs the kitchen with her brother Sven on the pass. Her food reads like a postcard: a paella that nods to Valencia but speaks Mediterranean Ibiza, a curry that travels from Bangkok back to the cove.
